  • Integrate 21st Century and technology skills into core academic instruction

    TechSteps immerses students in rigorous academic learning as they work to solve problems, communicate, collaborate, and use technology in meaningful ways to demonstrate creativity and innovation. Each TechSteps integration activity engages students in motivating learning experiences that seamlessly deliver core academic content, accelerate understanding and incorporate 21st Century learning into a high school curriculum.

    TechSteps 9-12 is a high school technology curriculum comprised of a core of standards-based technology integration projects across multiple subject areas with a library of over 150 additional activities. Each rigorous integration project, presents a real-world English, Math, Science, Visual Arts or Social Studies challenge that teaches students how to use open-ended technology tools to design, build, analyze, conceptualize and create digital products and presentations. All of the integration activities within the core TechSteps product feature rubrics that provide authentic performance-based evidence of subject-matter, technology literacy and 21st Century skills proficiency.

  • Engage students, accelerate learning and empower teachers with inquiry-based technology integration activities

    TechSteps is a district-wide curriculum for 21st Century learning that engages high school students with carefully planned and taught technology integration activities designed to promote understanding of core standards-based academic content while also developing critical 21st Century skills.

    TechSteps actively engages students in meaningful, active learning with standards-based integration projects that present students with real-world challenges to solve using digital tools. Each classroom-ready challenge provides a well-designed learning experience that guides students in using open-ended applications to design and build an authentic information product or presentation with which to communicate their best thinking. Each original artifact provides a valid demonstration of technology proficiency and 21st Century skills while ensuring 21st learning in every classroom.

    Effectively integrating TechSteps into your curriculum will make sure that learning is extended beyond the classroom to ensure that all students achieve the technology fluency necessary to succeed in a global society.

  • Use performance-based assessment to provide evidence of subject matter, tech literacy and 21st Century skills development

    Each project within the TechSteps 9-12 core utilizes a performance-based evaluation system and provides all the resources necessary to implement, manage and access technology and information literacy development.

    Dynamic performance rubrics associated with each activity provide assessment as learning opportunities and allow educators to identify both academic and 21stCentury skills demonstrated with in each authentic student artifact.  Once entered into the TechSteps database, an ongoing tech fluency profile for 21st Century competencies is automatically generated for every student.  These cumulative attainment profiles provide a truly valid representation of demonstrated proficiencies from assessments over multiple projects and classes. Using this data, administrators are provided with all the information needed to make reliable, data-driven decisions and meet all state and federal reporting requirements.

  • Aligned with NETS*S, State and Common Core Standards

    It is built on the National Education Technology Standards for Students (NETS*S) and is aligned with state and Common Core State Standards.

    TechSteps materials are currently being used to support STEM, CTE and other grant funded initiatives.

TechSteps has proven to be a tremendous catalyst for 21st Century learning across West Virginia, and has provided increased support for technology literacy and thinking skills instruction and learning within appropriate content applications.
